Julia Kortrey is deputy state policy director at Evergreen. She advances state-level climate and clean energy policy and supports states in navigating federal clean energy laws and opportunities. Prior to Evergreen, Julia was at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority where she worked to develop the state's offshore wind industry—including the creation of the New Jersey Wind Port—and build the Wind Institute for Innovation and Training to support offshore wind workforce development and innovation. Julia also worked in Washington, D.C. on various social policy issues including paid family and medical leave, workplace standards, and other worker justice issues. Julia was an Emerson National Hunger Fellow at the Congressional Hunger Center with placements at the Texas Hunger Initiative and the Congressional Research Service. She holds an M.P.A from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University and a B.A. in English from Emory University. She lives in Philadelphia, PA with her family. In her free time, she prefers to be outdoors hiking, cooking for friends and family, or exploring a new city.
