Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) opened applications for grants through the Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania (RISE PA) program. Through the program, DEP will distribute up to $396 million in grants ranging from $25,000 to $220 million to projects that will lower climate pollution across Pennsylvania’s industrial sector. The funding comes from last year’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) awards, which secured the Commonwealth one of the largest grants in the country thanks to Pennsylvania’s focus on industrial emissions and building a clean energy workforce.
In response, Evergreen Action Deputy State Policy Director Julia Kortrey released the following statement:
“Thanks to RISE PA, Pennsylvania’s industrial and manufacturing sectors have a game-changing opportunity to decarbonize their operations and create thousands of well-paying jobs in the process. By cutting over 8 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, RISE PA will help build Pennsylvania a cleaner, more competitive economy for the 21st century. This program will also drive investments directly into local communities and industries, supporting long-term economic growth and making it a win for workers, families, and the environment. Now is the time for the Commonwealth's industrial leaders, unions, and community members to work together and seize this opportunity to build a cleaner, more competitive Pennsylvania.”
