PA Republican Senate Majority Fails Riders

Last night, the Pennsylvania legislature failed to submit a public transportation support package to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s desk for signature. Despite bipartisan efforts in the Pennsylvania House, Senate Republicans were able to block the funding package. In response, Evergreen Senior Transportation Policy Lead Liya Rechtman released the following statement:

“The Pennsylvania State Senate chose to leave millions of riders stranded. Their inaction and failure to deliver the support Pennsylvania’s transit systems desperately needed has effectively approved devastating service cuts that will impact essential workers, students, and families across the state.

“This isn’t just a policy failure—it’s a failure of vision and values. Pennsylvania deserves a transportation future that connects, not one that abandons the people who rely on it most. The Senate should take up the House bipartisan transit funding deal as quickly as possible. The longer this critical funding is delayed, the deeper the damage and the tougher the road to recovery.”
