NEW VIDEO: Evergreen Explains EPA’s Latest Cars Rule

Today, Evergreen Action is releasing Evergreen Explains: What are President Biden's New Clean Cars Rules?, a new video breaking down the rise of cars to dominance in American transportation, the climate impact of their tailpipe emissions, and how EPA’s proposed light duty vehicle pollution standard will help advance climate justice, public health, and President Biden’s climate goals.

“EPA is already on the right track, but the climate movement needs to stay engaged on this proposal,” said Evergreen Action Deputy Policy Director Rachel Patterson. “The proposed light duty vehicle greenhouse gas standard charts a necessary and achievable path for auto manufacturers to dramatically reduce emissions in the most climate polluting part of the most climate polluting sector of the economy. Despite auto manufacturers themselves touting ambitious plans to electrify their fleets, well-funded industry groups are waging a dishonest campaign to weaken these rules and pad profits at the expense of public health. With the public comment period now open, it’s more important than ever to make our voices heard: Don’t sell out our air and our climate for corporate profits—EPA must finalize a strong light duty vehicle rule.”

Last month, President Biden’s EPA proposed new emissions standards for vehicles beginning in model year 2027 that would make it possible for the US to achieve 67 percent new zero emissions vehicles by 2030. For a full analysis of how this proposal would work, and why it matters, read more here.
