New Freight Corridor Strategy Will Maximize Pollution Reductions and Public Health Benefits from Charging Infrastructure Investments

In response to the Biden administration’s newly announced National Zero-Emission Freight Corridor Strategy, Evergreen Action Vice President Craig Segall released the following statement:

“This is a remarkable Biden administration effort to ensure that its historic climate investments are directed to where they can make the biggest impact. With the newly announced strategy and prioritized electrification corridors, it is driving forward action at the heart of our economy and supply chain. This will unlock significant pollution reductions and major public health benefits for the 72 million Americans living near trucking routes who have long called for action. This coordinated investment will be a game changer that drives further investment and job creation and delivers cleaner roadways for all.”

Last year, Evergreen released a memo calling on President Biden to announce a coordinated HDV strategy and direct infrastructure deployment to steer IRA, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and private investments. Evergreen later joined 18 national climate and environmental justice groups in a letter urging the administration to create a national strategy for freight electrification to strategically deploy charging infrastructure.
