Evergreen Statement on Gov. Whitmer’s 2025-2026 Budget Proposal

Today, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer released her 2025-2026 state budget proposal, which included investments for affordable housing, energy efficiency, heating assistance, and transportation infrastructure. In response, Evergreen Action Midwest Deputy Director Courtney Brady released the following statement:

“While federal leaders are failing working families and blocking proven cost-saving solutions, Governor Whitmer has stepped up with a smart budget to support Michiganders and advance clean, affordable energy for a healthier state. The governor’s budget proposal prioritizes practical investments to lower energy costs and increase quality job opportunities for Michigan families. And by focusing on affordable housing, home energy efficiency upgrades, energy bill assistance, and expanding EV charging infrastructure, this proposal will help deliver both immediate and long-term savings for households. We urge the Legislature to build on and approve these critical investments to help Michigan families thrive.”
