In response to Senate Republicans killing S.J.10, a privileged resolution introduced by Senators Tim Kaine and Martin Heinrich to terminate the Trump Administration’s baseless “energy emergency” executive order, Evergreen Action Executive Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:
“Trump claims the U.S. is facing an energy emergency, but his executive order is an attack on the clean energy projects that are making electricity more affordable and reliable. It’s a blatant attempt to sabotage clean energy investments and hand over taxpayer dollars to Big Oil executives—at the expense of American families, workers, and businesses. Yet Senate Republicans just voted to keep Trump’s thinly veiled attempt to ban clean energy and further enrich his fossil fuel friends.
“The truth is, America is leading the world in clean energy innovation, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and lowering household costs. But Trump’s disastrous policies threaten to send us backward, raising prices and making our communities more vulnerable to pollution and climate disasters. We’re grateful to Senators Heinrich and Kaine for leading this resolution and to Senate Democrats for uniting behind it.”
