Today, the PJM Member Committee elected two new members, Robert Ethier and Le Xie, to the PJM Board of Managers. In response, Evergreen Action Deputy State Policy Director Julia Kortrey released the following statement:
“New board members, same old story. PJM had a chance to signal change—but they refuse to do even the bare minimum to prioritize ratepayers and states. Meanwhile, households are grappling with soaring energy costs as PJM protects a system that prioritizes corporate profits over affordable, reliable power in the region. Instead of working with states, PJM doubled down on exclusion—rejecting consideration of state-supported nominees and making it clear it has no intention of giving states a real seat at the table. That’s out of step with how other RTOs operate, and it ignores the essential role states play in shaping energy policy.
“PJM can’t solve the problems it created without fundamentally changing how it operates. Business as usual isn’t working. We urge these new board members to break with the past and push for real reform that puts consumers first.”
