Evergreen: JD Vance Should Check Out His Hometown, The IRA is Delivering American Clean Manufacturing Jobs

In response to the climate discussion early in tonight’s Vice Presidential debate, Evergreen Action Executive Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“JD Vance said it himself: if we want to solve the climate crisis, we should be investing in American clean manufacturing. We have great news for JD Vance—the Biden-Harris administration is on it! In Vance’s own hometown of Middletown, one of the Inflation Reduction Act’s largest investments is being used to update the local steel plant, reducing pollution and creating over a thousand good-paying union jobs.

“While Vance was engaging in some slippery climate denial, he laid out an honestly pretty good hypothetical plan for what we would do ‘if’ there were a climate crisis. But Kamala Harris is already doing that, and she’s ready to take us further. The Harris-Walz economic plan will ensure American industry leads the world in clean technologies, and reduce climate pollution to prevent more ‘crazy weather patterns.’ While Vance joked about ‘weird science’ on stage tonight, thousands of Americans are grieving loved ones lost in Hurricane Helene. Climate change is happening now, it’s fueling more extreme weather and we can’t afford another minute of denial or delay. We deserve a team in the White House that will take on real challenges with real solutions: the Harris-Walz ticket is the obvious choice.”
