Evergreen Action Statement on Confirmation of Three New FERC Commissioners

In response to the Senate votes to confirm David Rosner, Lindsay See, and Judy Chang as members of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Evergreen Action Senior Power Sector Policy Lead Charles Harper released the following statement:

“Today, the Senate acted to secure a quorum at one of America’s most important climate agencies. We are grateful for Majority Leader Schumer’s commitment to holding these votes and to senators who got all three nominees across the finish line. FERC’s disappointing approval of the Mountain Valley Pipeline yesterday is a timely reminder of exactly why the commission is in need of fresh eyes that recognize the threat of climate change and support our clean energy future. The now fully-seated FERC can prioritize the resilience of our grid in the face of climate threats right away, by taking swift action to reform interregional transmission planning and minimum transfer capability.

“These new commissioners have big shoes to fill. We thank Commissioner Allison Clements for her years of public service and the steps she and FERC have taken to begin addressing the grid’s biggest problems, from interconnection to regional planning. Today’s confirmations were an important step. Now it’s time for these newly-seated Commissioners to get to work.”
