EPA’s New White Paper Is A Promising Step Towards Slashing Pollution

In response to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) newly released White Paper on reducing greenhouse gas pollution from combustion turbine units, Evergreen Action Chief of Staff Lena Moffitt released the following statement:

“An unchecked build-out of gas-fired plants in the power sector would not only threaten the health and wellbeing of communities across the country, it would run directly counter to the administration’s critical climate and environmental justice goals. The White Paper released today by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a promising step in the right direction as the Biden administration works to take a whole-of-government approach to tackling climate pollution. Their approach must continue to include utilizing all of the ample tools at their disposal to rein in pollution from the power sector. We are encouraged by the strong leadership of EPA Administrator Michael Regan and his entire team. It’s clear that the EPA understands the path we must forge ahead in order to slash pollution and save American lives. By supercharging a transition to 100% clean electricity, we can build a safer and more habitable future for all.”
