To mark the six-month milestone over the weekend of New York’s congestion pricing program, Evergreen Action States Vice President Justin Balik released the following statement:

“Six months in, congestion pricing is working exactly as promised: cutting traffic, strengthening the economy, cleaning the air, and modernizing New York’s transit system. Despite relentless political attacks from the Trump administration and their fossil fuel allies, the program remains both popular and legally rock-solid. The courts have repeatedly affirmed what experts and communities have long known—this policy is lawful, necessary, and effective. 

“We’re grateful that Governor Hochul and state leaders stood firm against attempts to kill it—and now New Yorkers are reaping the benefits. If the past six months have taught us anything, it’s that congestion pricing is, and will remain, a win for riders, the climate, and the future of New York.”
