“The Senate just handed President Trump another loyalist to serve Big Oil. Doug Burgum is poised to open public lands and waters to corporate polluters, worsen the climate crisis, and raise energy costs for American families. His confirmation comes as Trump delivers on the $1 billion quid pro quo Burgum brokered—sowing chaos and attacking American clean energy jobs to ensure Big Oil gets a return on their investment. Burgum will be a rubber stamp to rig the game for Big Oil and jack up energy prices for Americans.

“Trump’s unconstitutional power grabs make clear just how dangerous his extreme Project 2025 agenda is. It’s frustrating that some Senate Democrats are backing the very people who will carry it out. Americans voted for lower costs and economic stability—not a blank check for Big Oil to exploit public resources and rig the system in their favor. But with Burgum, that’s exactly what they’re getting.”
