Evergreen Statement on Unprecedented Michigan State Funding Clawback

In response to Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall’s announcement that House Republicans will be clawing back $645 million in already-approved funds, Evergreen Action State Advocacy Director Courtney Brady released the following statement:

“Michigan House Republicans are doubling down on the failed Trump slash and burn strategies that won’t save taxpayers a dime but will force families to pay more for groceries, energy, and other essentials. Make no mistake: These cuts will make energy in Michigan more expensive and less reliable. As families struggle to keep up with rising costs this holiday season, Speaker Hall is robbing Michiganders of vital assistance and urgent investments needed to put food on the table and upgrade the grid to ensure the power stays on through increasingly frequent extreme weather events. Michigan Republicans have thrown the state into chaos, and it’s working families that will pay the price.”
