Bipartisan Governors Demand End to PJM Delays and Mismanagement

Yesterday, a bipartisan group of nine governors sent a letter to the PJM Board of Managers raising concerns over the grid operator’s leadership and direction. The governors cite persistent delays in connecting new energy resources, inadequate long-term transmission planning, and stakeholder mismanagement that have eroded trust among states and consumers. In response, Evergreen Action Evergreen Action Deputy State Policy Director Julia Kortrey released the following statement:

“This letter makes one thing clear: the era of business as usual at PJM is over. For too long, PJM has protected utility and generator profits at the expense of the very people it’s meant to serve—and now, leaders on both sides of the aisle are demanding a course correction. We applaud these governors for stepping up and calling for the accountability and reform PJM desperately needs to address the energy affordability and reliability crises. It’s time to clear the backlog, connect low-cost clean energy projects to the grid, and finally plan for the transmission system the moment demands. This is a pivotal opportunity to reshape the region’s energy future and build a grid that puts people first. PJM must rise to the occasion and deliver the reliable, affordable, and clean power that more than 65 million consumers are counting on.”
